Troops of the 9th Infantry Division cancelled their yearly Christmas party but instead pooled their resources and shared it with the affected residents of the latest Mayon Volcano eruption in Albay province. The soldiers were able to provide "Libreng Tawag" (Free Calls), distributed relief goods, gave psychological counselling to kids, and other fun activities to at least alleviate the condition of the evacuees. "We don't mind forgoing with our traditional family get-together to help our kababayans. They need whatever help they can get. They need it more than us. I'm happy that we made them smile even for a while amidst the tragedy they are facing. This is a meaningful and fulfilling Christmas celebration for us.", said one soldier.
