CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – Military and police personnel manning the COMELEC checkpoint in Masbate City arrested a suspected partisan armed group (PAG) member who was carrying a pistol at about 7:30am yesterday (April 14), a military officer said.
Major Harold Cabunoc, Spokesperson of the 9th Infantry Division, said that the joint elements of Special Task Force Masbate led by PInsp Manalang and Cpl Noel L Enciso (Inf) PA arrested a certain George Belamino y Gomez, 35yrs old, and a resident of Puro, Placer, Masbate for carrying his Cal .45 pistol without COMELEC exemption documents.
Belarmino is now detained in STF Masbate Headquarters as appropriate cases are filed against him.
The JSTF Masbate has already netted 12 suspected PAGs members as of today. Seven of the suspects were alleged members of the Gerry Solasco PAGs members based in Pio V. Corpuz town.
Since January 2010, three village leaders were among those arrested for illegal possession of firearms after a series of raids conducted by STF Masbate in its effort to dismantle the various partisan armed groups in the province.
