Joint AFP-PNP Security Force To Remain in Masbate Province

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, CamSur – The joint AFP-PNP security force created to dismantle armed goons will remain in Masbate, a military official said.

Major Harold M Cabunoc, 9th ID Spokesman said that General Delfin Bangit, the AFP Chief, has ordered the continued deployment of the AFP forces together with the PNP units in Masbate province.

Bangit visited the Joint Special Task Force Masbate headquarters in Masbate City to personally convey his commendation to the personnel of the said unit.

Recently, the government security forces have earned accolades from many sectors in the society for their successful security operations during the just-concluded national and local elections.

“The JSTF Masbate will continue to perform its task of dismantling the various partisan armed groups (PAGs) in the province. However, their priority will be the carrying out of our main mission which is the ISO campaign,” said Bangit in an interview held at the 901st Brigade headquarters in Daraga, Albay.

“The 85th Infantry Battalion might be pulled out and redeployed to its mother unit in the 2nd Infantry Division but it will be replaced by another battalion which is organic to the 9th Infantry Division,” Bangit added.

During the traditional ‘talk-to-men’, Bangit informed the soldiers about his intention to award all soldiers the H.O.P.E. medal. He said that he is visiting various camps all around the archipelago to thank the soldiers for their professionalism and dedication to duty during the elections.

As part of the AFP’s morale and welfare program, Bangit announced that soldiers will be receiving more benefits such as scholarship grants for their dependents.
