First Lieutenant Allan Divina, Company Commander of the slain soldier, said that Private First Class Francisco Nodado was on his way home for a 3-day leave when he was shot and killed by NPA rebels in Calauat village of Pamplona town.

Nodado was traversing a rough road on board a motorcycle when he was chanced upon by his assailants who suddenly appeared from behind the houses with their firearms pointed at him.

“He was shot repeatedly when he attempted to flee. He bore seven gunshot wounds all over his body that caused his instantaneous death,” said Divina.

In 2009, the NPA terrorist rebels had killed 52 people in the Bicol Region. The list of the victims include 30 innocent civilians who were accused of being military informants and those who refused to pay the extortion demands.

In 2010, the CPP-NPA-NDF has continued its series of murders victimizing unarmed military personnel, resulting to the killing of 1 soldier, 7 CAFGU personnel and 4 civilians.

Major General Ruperto Pabustan, Commander of the 9th Infantry Division has directed the 42nd Infantry Battalion to pursue the NPA attackers in coordination with the police.

“We condemn these serious violations to human rights committed by the CPP-NPA. We call on the people to denounce these rebels who have engaged in banditry all over the Bicol Region,” said Pabustan.
