Caramoran, Catanduanes - Troopers of the 83rd Infantry Battalion, a newly deployed unit of the 9th Infantry Division, captured a ranking member of the CPP-NPA-NDF in Bicol Region. LTC ROMY BASCO, the Battalion Commander of 83IB, said that at about 2am, August 26, 2009, their Intelligence Platoon arrested Mr Edgar Pongan aka "Ka Warren", vice commander of CPP-NPA Islacom Pusa, during a raid in his hideout in Bgy Maysuram, Caramoran, Catanduanes. Pongan (Ka Warren) is also known as a ranking leader of the liquidation squad of the CPP-NPA which is responsible for the murder of military personnel and local government officials in the area.
