9ID Troopers Placed On Alert For Typhoon "Pepeng"

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur - Due to possible devastation of super typhoon “Pepeng”, 9ID troops, especially the Disaster Relief and Rescue Units (DRRUs), were placed on full alert. 9ID spokesperson Major Harold M. Cabunoc said that respective DDRUs of subordinate units have been readied to respond to any eventuality. "Our troops are now in full alert. They have been strategically deployed to various zones in our area of responsibility (AOR) to better respond to the needs of our people. In fact, they have already initiated preemptive evacuation for more than 10,000 affected residents in Abay, Legazpi City, Sorsogon and Catanduanes to designated evacuation centers. It was a difficult process for all involved but it is the decisive thing to do. ", Major Cabunoc added.

Major Cabunoc further said, "Military authorities are consistently coordinating with Albay Provincial Safety and Emergency Management Officer (APSEMO) and Regional/Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (R/PDCC) to ensure quick response." He further assured everyone that the 9ID, under the command of Major General Ruperto R. Pabustan, diligently adheres to the “Zero Casualty” policy of the PDCC."

Likeweise, in response to persistent request for relief goods to the victims of typhoon "Ondoy", the 9th Infantry Division have procured and transported provisions amounting to one hundred thousand (100,000Php) pesos for the heavily devastated areas in Marikina City and Rizal province.
