Eight (8) Local Terrorists Captured

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – Four (4) Local Terrorist Group (LTG) members were captured during a raid on their hideout in a remote barangay in Sorsogon.

In a report that reached 9ID headquarters, at about 7am of November 7, 2009 a team of Special Forces sent on a combat mission by the 903rd Infantry Brigade, 9ID, PA, captured four (4) heavily armed members of a local communist terrorist group in a house of a certain Lorry Clete @ Maymay, believed to be one of their comrades in Brgy Siuton, Magallanes, Sorsogon.

Reacting to the report of a walk-in informant from the said barangay, Colonel Mario Mendoza, the Brigade Commander of the 903rd Brigade, 9ID, PA, sent a team of Special Forces to confirm the report of enemy presence in the house of Ms. Clete. It was further reported by informant that the same group were the same ones who burned down the Sun Cellular cellsite last month.

Major Harold M. Cabunoc, the 9ID spokesman, said that the four (4) apprehended LTG members were identified as Beato Latusa @ Benjie, Nilo Escular @ Omar, Amadio Grayda @ Jr and Ernesto Labadia @ Ren members of Front Committee 79 operating in the whole provinces of Sorsogon. Recovered from their possession were two (2) M16 rifles, one (1) M14 rifle, one (1) Ingram Submachinegun, one (1) rifle grenade,11 magazine for M16 rifle, five (5) magazine for M14 rifle, personal belongings and subversive documents with high intelligence value. They are currently under the temporary custody of 903rd Infantry Brigade for tactical interrogation and proper disposition.

A day earlier (November 6), a team of Scout Rangers captured also four (4) LTG members with their assorted firearms as they were in the act of collecting extortion money from the local people in Brgy Maalo, Juban of this province. The communist terrorists are now intensifying their movements all around Bicol to show their strength and terrorize the people. As the election period is fast approaching, it is expected that the CPP-NPA-NDF will again extort money in the form of permit to campaign (PTC) from local politicians.
