4 People Went Missing Off Calaguas Island in Camarines Norte

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – Four fishermen went missing on board a motorized banca off Calaguas Island in Camarines Norte after it was swept away by huge waves last night (July 13).

Major Harold M Cabunoc, 9ID spokesperson, identified the victims as Ryan Avila, 35, Lerio Buenaventura, 45, Enrico Lazado, 30 and a certain Catoi Azotea, 32.

Cabunoc said that the four missing persons are residents of Ba nocboc village in Vinzons town.

Army soldiers are also trying to locate the other 11 persons who went fishing from Sukhan village, Bagamanoc, Catanduanes and who were reported missing yesterday at 3:00pm.

Currently, a total of 15 people are declared missing after venturing the high seas despite the government’s stern warnings about the coming of strong winds and gigantic waves brought about by typhoon Basyang.

Col Cirilo Teodoro Torralba, Commander of the 902nd Brigade has dispatched a platoon of soldiers to assist the local authorities locate the missing people.
