CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – 398 Trainees of Candidate Soldier Course Class 207-09 “MABAGSIK” took their oath as new members of the AFP regular force during the closing ceremony held at the 9th Infantry Division Headquarters today (August 20, 2009).
The Division Public Information Officer, Major Harold Cabunoc, said that the ceremony was witnessed by Colonel John S. Bonafos the Philippine Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Education and Training G8. In attendance were the parents, relatives and loved ones of the trainees as well as the local and barangay officials of Pili, Camarines Sur.
This new batch of soldiers will play significant roles in accomplishing the tasks related to peace and development initiatives of the government. The 9th Infantry Division is tasked to establish security environment that is conducive to peace and development. The local terrorist groups are still active in Bicol region. Recently, a Globe cell site was burned down in Baao, Camarines Sur when their demand for extortion money was denied by the telecom company.
In his message, Colonel Bonafos, the guest speaker, stressed the importance of the training instructions that the new soldiers received for the past months. He reminded every graduate to display the best traits of a professional soldier as they serve the people of Bicol Region.
